Sleep sound mixer & timer

Mix your own sleep sound. Set it to fade.

One sound rarely covers everything a daytime room throws at you. The ShiftSleep mixer lets you stack layers — brown noise under rain, fan over pink — with a level for each, mute and solo to hear what each is doing, and a sleep timer that fades the whole mix out softly.

How the mixer works

Open the mixer and add a sound as a layer. Each layer has a level slider, a mute button and a solo button. Solo one layer to hear it alone, adjust it, then un-solo to hear the full mix again. A master room-level sits above everything so you can turn the whole mix down for the night without touching the balance. Tap Save and the mix becomes a favorite on Home.

Two layers are free — enough for the classic pairing of Brown Noise and Rain. Premium extends the mixer to four layers and unlocks the full sound catalog.

Combinations people use

  • Brown Noise + Rain — the Deep Sleep default; low cover with texture
  • Pink Noise + Fan — a warm, bedroom-like bed
  • White Noise + Brown Noise — a full-spectrum mask for voices and rumble together
  • Ocean + Thunder — slow movement with deep, sparse rumble
  • Fan + AC — steady appliance hum for hotel-room familiarity

The sleep timer

Choose 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, or run all day. Near the end of the timer the mix fades out over a set period instead of cutting off — an abrupt stop is a common cause of waking at the end of a nap. Every play also soft-starts over two seconds, so pressing play in a dark room never produces a blast.

Why layering generated sounds is different

Because every layer is procedurally generated, layers never drift out of phase with each other and never hit a loop point at different moments. The mix you hear at hour four is as seamless as at minute one. Nothing is downloaded or streamed, so the mixer works fully offline.

ShiftSleep AI supports rest and routine with sound and simple logging. It is not medical advice and does not diagnose or treat sleep disorders. If your sleep problems persist, talk to a clinician.

Frequently asked questions

How many sounds can I mix?

Two layers on the free tier, four on Premium. Presets such as Deep Sleep are pre-built mixes you can start from.

Can I save my mix?

Yes. Saved favorites appear on Home for one-tap play. The free tier includes a few saved mixes; Premium removes the limit.

Does the timer fade the sound or stop it?

It fades. The fade begins near the end of the timer so the room goes quiet gradually.
